The 2nd nine weeks standards that will be focused on are listed below. Please be sure your child is reading a book for at least 30 minutes a night. He or she has a guided reading book that is read in small groups 3-4 times a week and a reading notebook that has information regrading their book- thinking maps and comprehension questions. Please have a nightly book conversation with them. Parent involvement plays a vital role in a child's academics.
Math: Rounding to the nearest 10 and 100, Graphing, multiplication, division and 2 step-word problems.
Writing: Informative writing. Focus will be on creating topic sentences using the main idea and supporting details. Students will be research a topic and organizing information using a tree map (graphic organizer) and comparing and contrasting the information to another similar topic.
