    The 2012-2013 NC READY accountability report was released on November 7, 2013, with over seventy-seven percent (77%) of teachers in Greene County having met or exceeded academic growth expectations with their students.  Click here for more information.

    Standards-Based Grading

    West Greene Elementary School is moving to using standards-based grading and reporting to more accurately reflect how students are progressing in meeting the Common Core State Standards and the North Carolina Essential Standards.  Please refer to the two documents below to get more information about this.

    West Greene Participated in STEM Fest 
    at Greene Central on March 27, 2014


    Pie in the Face

    West Greene’s Physical Education Teacher, Tonya Winfield, promised those students who raised $40.00 or more dollars for the AHA, they would get to pie a teacher.  If West Greene raised over$1,500.00 all teachers would have to hula hoop in front of the whole school.  As promised, on March 21st, 2014 we had an assembly in which 52 students got to pie a teacher and all the teachers had to hula hoop.

    **Read to Achieve**
    The Read to Achieve Program is a part of the Excellent Public School Act which became law in July of 2012 and applies to all schools at the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year.
     
    The State Goal § 115C-83.1A.
    The goal of the State is to ensure that every student read at or above grade level by the end of third grade and continue to progress in reading proficiency so that he or she can read, comprehend, integrate, and apply complex text when needed for secondary education and career success.
